We are excited to invite you to join the August edition of NHWHE’s Speaker Series, Your Future, Your Move: Using Strategic Foresight to Navigate What’s Next with Jackie Lavorgna, PhD! At a time when the only constant in higher education seems to be change and disruption, professionals across our industry are navigating shifting federal policies, enrollment cliffs, technological advancements, and other unprecedented challenges. Strategic foresight offers a powerful and practical practice for making sense of change by identifying signals, organizing emerging themes, and envisioning multiple possible futures, and for determining what actions to consider as a result.
This Speaker Series event introduces strategic foresight as a method for navigating disruption and a framework, the Personal Futures Canvas, that is designed for individual use as a higher ed faculty, staff, manager, or leader in considering possible futures for your field of expertise, the type of institution you work in, or another area of interest. No prior experience with foresight or strategy is needed for this session. The canvas provides a systematic way to document your insights about the future, reflect on possible scenarios, and identify concrete steps for you to take, leveraging your own agency so you can move forward with intention. Participants will leave with an understanding of the core components of strategic foresight as a method for navigating disruption and a downloadable version of the Personal Futures Canvas.
The event is lunchtime-friendly with optional chat participation and no pressure for cameras on. Take the time to recharge, refuel, and prepare for the future.
